It is nearly that time of year again…. Prom!
I can remember my prom like it was yesterday (9 years ago :O that makes me feel old) but I remember getting my dress and having my hair and makeup done, getting in the car with my best friends and dancing the night away.

I was lucky enough to go down to Selfridges as part of The Beauty Project and spend the evening with Leslie Blodgett (Creator of Bareminerals) and Nadnie Baggott (HELLO! Health and Beauty journalist). We were greeted at The Corner Bar with a glass of Champagne and canapes. It was a small gathering of ladies that love the cosmetics and beauty industry.
We took our seats (front row!!) and waited for Leslie and Nadine to make their entrances. The talk was all about how Leslie built her business and her personal experiences along the way. She gave some amazing advice and spent a lot of time answering everyone questions. After the talk we all had time to mingle and try the latest products. It was a truly inspiring evening and Nadine and Leslie had all the time in the world of everyone there.
One of the pieces of advice Leslie gave me was to not be scared. When owning your own business you have to believe in what you are and really go after your dreams.
It was such a fantastic evening with amazing people!!
Two wedding days… what girl wouldn’t want the chance to wear her wedding dress twice have her hair and makeup done on two days running. Well Cassie did just that! Splitting the wedding over two days meant that they could get married and have a close family dinner on the Friday and throw a huge party for lots of family and friends on the Saturday. Cassie wanted to keep the same wedding look over both days and I think this was a good idea as it suited her and her dress so perfectly.
MAKEUP – Soft creams and chocolate browns gave a beautiful smocked eye. With black eyeliner and semi-permanent individual lashes really making the eyes stand out! Flawless skin and a mix of peach and pink blusher, really gave Cassie a summer flow on the camera. The look was finished off with a bright coral lip gloss.
HAIR – Side swept hair with plait detail running down the left. A mix of pinned and loose flowing curls to the right with high on top gave the stunning headband a beautiful platform to sit on.
DRESS – Floor length, lace A-line dress with a boat neckline and lace cap sleeves. For added details there was a ribbon waistline and buttons running down the back.
ACCESSORIES – A stunning gold, pearl and diamante headband. Pearl stud earrings and a matching pearl necklace.
After being part of Cassie’s wedding weekend, I am all in favour of the two day wedding!!
Laura’s wedding day started with a huge rain storm so I knew that no matter what weather was thrown her way I needed to make sure that the makeup and hair stayed put all day! Laura had a lace keyhole back dress, so an all up hair do was a must to show off this detail.
MAKEUP – Purple smokey eye with semi-permanent lashes, natural base and light pink lipstick.
HAIR – Curly bun with plait detail to one side and soft hair around the face.
DRESS – Floor length lace dress with lace straps and cut out detail at the back.
ACCESSORIES – Diamante and pearl headband.
I was so happy to hear that the rain held off so that Laura and Dan could have their punt down the river in Cambridge. The photos look amazing!
Natural and flawless was my brief for this wedding (something I am sure we all love). In the photo below you can see some of the products I used to create Yun’s wedding look.
Using the High Beam and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish gave the bride a beautiful glow. Yun did not want bold eyes but still wanted them to stand out in the photos and this is something I get asked, quite a lot. I used two shades of pink all over the eye to give a nice even colour and shine. I then used MACs Sumptuous Olive smocked in to the lash line. This gives a flash of colour without having to have a dark eye. To define the eyes I then used Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel liner in Granite Ink and individual eyelashes. Finishing the look I applied a light pink lip gloss.
A couple of days after the wedding I received this lovely email from Yun. There is nothing better than knowing I was just a small part of her big day!
I had the pleasure of being apart of Lizzie’s wedding day, helping the bridal party get ready for the big event. Lizzie went for very elegant hair up design with all the hair swept back off her face. The hair accessories were just beautiful! A lace and pearl slide to one side of the bun looked striking against Lizzie’s brown hair and a floor length veil sat just above the bun.
Lizzie really wanted to make the most of her eyes so I picked a Soft beige with shimmer for all over the eye and then used two shades of a warm chocolate brown to create a soft smoky effect. To give the eyes ever more definition I used a gel black eyeliner on top and a black eye shadow smudged under the eye, with lots of black mascara. Every look should be tailored to the person wearing it, so on your trial you will be matched with colours and shades that will make the most of your best features.
I also want to give a quick mention to Mooi who created Lizzie’s AMAZING flowers! They were stunning!
Sarah was having a traditional wedding with bright pinks and yellows taking center stage. Sarah was used to wearing her hair up at work so fancied something a little different on her big day and wanted to make the most of her lovely long hair. We played with different styles on the trial and decided on a curly half up half down with pinned detail at the back. Sarah had a tiara and veil which fit the style perfectly. For Sarah’s makeup we went for a light silver eye shadow, thin gel black eyeliner, mascara and to make her eyes stand out even more, individual eyelash extensions. Pairing this with a pale pink lip stick with high shine Sarah was camera ready.
I set myself a challenge that I would do 100 day of makeup, hair and nails.
I wrote a blog every day for the 100 days and photographed each look.
I featured looks including everyday makeup, creative makeup, nail art and hair styles.
